The Artists Raising Kids Compendium

A report from our Artists Raising Kids project: 130 artist parents surveyed, 20 artist parents interviewed, and 50 artist parents convened for a workshop/conversation. Lots of crowd-sourced thinking from our surveys, and an overview essay of what we learned.

 

 

 


 

Un/Distracted: Making Art in the Age of Interruption

We surveyed 350 artists and held two in-person roundtables asking: How do you make art and still answer all those emails? How do you manage the distractions and interruptions of social media, apps an notifications? Artists (of course) are counter-designing the compulsive design of apps and online platforms. We gathered all their techniques and strategies into this compendium.

I was part of a national working group of artists, residency spaces, and funders looking at how residencies can better work with artist parents.
