How do we reconcile our artistic selves with our structures? Performing artists are pressured to "structure" an artistic life into an organization/company/nonprofit. Performing artists also collaborate by nature and form generative (and complex) webs of collective action. How do we parse these overlapping roles? Specifically, what are principles for envisioning a productive, balanced life as an artist and a structure-runner? What tools and tactics have artists used to make it work? How can we move the conversation away from burnout and toward sustainability?
